Do you have a favourite scripture?
by Ucantnome ini have two.. luke 4.
16 he went to nazareth, where he had been brought up, and on the sabbath day he went into the synagogue, as was his custom.
he stood up to read, 17 and the scroll of the prophet isaiah was handed to him.

Howie was his neighbors dog a delightful tailwaging kind of guy that just made you smile. So when his neighbor fell ill several months ago he got into the habit of walking Howie especially in the early morning his neighbor being a late sleeper. So one spring morning as he and Howie headed down the a shady path Howie stopped suddenly and began to sniff the air and seemed a bit disturbed. Looking around he noticed an unusual plant with a lovely purple flower it filled the air with a mysterious fragrance. so he and Howie decided to get a closer look and as the fragrance filled them something strange happened. As they looked into each others eyes the world went away and they found themselves on a distant planet and Howie told him the history of a people long gone who had created incredibly beautiful works of art and had traveled the galaxy in massive ships. Suddenly his face felt wet and he looked up into Howie's eyes as his sticky doggie tongue licked his face and he was lying on the ground. Dazed and confused they headed back Howie acting as his usual self and as he bent over to undue the leash for a moment as Howie looked at him he saw that place again then Howie turned and ran into the yard.

Odd question in July 15 2012 WT
by breakfast of champions inwhat if a powerful government were to hatch a plot to exterminate jehovah's witnesses as an organization?.
they ask this question at the bottom of page 23 of the july wt, and i thought the wording was kind of strange.
the target is not jws "the people" (as in nazi germany) but the org alone.

It's all in their imagination
They wish they were a "theatrical spectacle to the world" but the truth is nobody cares they are barely noticed.

I would like to thank all of you...
by sooner7nc in...for helping me see the light.. in 2008 i voted for the first time ever.
i voted for obama for president because i truly believed he and biden were a better choice to lead america than anybody running with sarah palin.
she scared me and still does even though i respect and admire john mccain.. being in texas and enjoying our relatively strong local economy i voted for rick perry to remain as governor and voted a mix of republican, democrat, and one libertarian for the other state and local positions that were up for election.

My son was murdered today
by truman ini have been on this site daily, almost from its beginning, since i left the jws in 2001, but i have been more of a reader than a poster, as you can see from my post count.
i know few here know me, although i know many of you through reading your posts.
maybe it is not right to ask for support, when i generally stay quietly in the background of this forum, but i want only to speak a human misery of the deepest kind.

"They took no note" - ?
by compound complex ina friend and i talked on the phone recently, and he read matthew 24:36-38 from 3 different versions of the bible.
the various renderings indicated that the citizenry were not aware of a coming judgment nor did they suspect anything, giving rise to the thought: what did noah preach (if anything)?
likewise, were people in areas far removed from noah's alleged ark building apprised of his monumental feat?

The sumerian tablets have an interesting version of the flood episode very different than the biblical account. The question is how do you really know which one is correct the tablets were found in the 1800's and were translated at a later date and everyone just assumed that whatever they said was pagan. They are in stone and are older than any known copy of the bible. If they are not true than whoever wrote them was an incredible sci fi writer.
So the concept of "they took no note" has vastly different implications depending on whose version you accept now most people today will immediately head towards the bible because that's what they have been raised with but does that make it so. If you investigate these tablets it will change everything and I'm not saying absolutely they're right but just that they deserve a fair and unbiased consideration.

i remember a CO who gave a talk about how terrible it would be to see the titanic movie because ( I'm not sure how he exactly worded it) it would be wrong to look at her breasts. It was funny because half the congregation had seen the movie. He was the same one who said Star Wars would be wrong because it was about a war.
